Potty Training Can Be Fun

For many parents, making the transition from diapers to using a toilet can be a frustrating and arduous process. To make this go more smoothly for the child and the parents, it is best to also make it fun. There are a number of ways to do this and some tips that will help make it more successful.

When first starting the training process, having a separate training potty is better than starting the child on a seat that goes on the full sized toilet. This shows the child that there is a potty that is just for them. One that is colorful or features funny characters is best.

The potty should be in an area that is central to the living room or room where the family spends most of its time. If there is not a bathroom close by, the potty should be out in the open so the child gets used to it. They will want to have their parents close by when using it.

The child should be placed on the potty approximately every two hours and be on the seat for a few minutes at a time. Having books and toys handy makes this more enjoyable and fun for the child.

Praise and excitement for the child during every step of the way will make potty training a success.
